A Smart Investment: How Apprenticeships Strengthen Tri Tech’s Team
Not every apprentice starts at square one, and Rheegen Arnido is proof of that.
When he joined Tri Tech Refrigeration Queensland in December 2024, he was not fresh out of school. A mature-aged apprentice already well into his training, Rheegen stepped straight into what was effectively his third year, with just 18 months left to run.
From day one, he stood out.
While becoming a qualified HVAC-R mechanic and completing his Certificate III in HVAC Electrotechnology through NTHA, Rheegen showed a level of commitment that set him apart.
Whether in the classroom or out on-site, he brought focus, reliability, and a willingness to learn. Working across industrial and commercial refrigeration systems, he quickly earned the respect of both office staff and field technicians.
“The most consistent feedback we got about Rheegen was his work ethic and his attitude,” Company Administration Manager, Selina said. “He was always respectful, friendly, and willing to go the extra mile.”
That reputation was built on action. Rheegen regularly stayed back to build his skills, supported other technicians on the job, and approached every task with a hands-on, proactive mindset.
“He would always stay back that extra half hour just to learn more,” Selina said. “He would often go out of his way to help the other guys—he was reliable and always willing to get involved.”
As a mature-aged apprentice in his 20s, Rheegen also brought a level of professionalism that stood out. He worked alongside younger apprentices while setting a strong example through his approach and attitude.
“He was a good mentor for the younger apprentices,” Selina added. “The maturity he brought made a difference to the team.”
For Tri Tech Refrigeration QLD, a company with a long history of developing apprentices into qualified tradespeople, Rheegen’s journey reflects what they value most. Over the past few decades, many apprentices have completed their training and remained with the business long-term.
Now, Rheegen has officially joined their ranks.
After completing his qualification through NTHA, his hard work and dedication have led to a full-time opportunity as a refrigeration mechanic—at a business he knows, respects, and is proud to be part of. From all the team at NTHA, we congratulate Rheegen on his incredible achievements.
