Every project presents its own challenges, but some require a level of planning, coordination and innovation that goes far beyond a standard installation. Our recent project at Casino Food Company was exactly that.
Casino Food Company engaged our team to install new refrigeration equipment as part of an upgrade to support its growing production capacity. While the installation itself was significant, the real challenge lay in accessing the site.
With NSW's Northern Main Rail Line running alongside the facility, traditional crane access simply wasn't possible. The restricted site conditions meant we needed to think beyond conventional lifting methods to safely deliver the equipment while maintaining the project's timeline.
An Innovative Solution
The answer came out of thin air; a helicopter lift. While a heli lift might sound like the obvious solution, successfully executing one is anything but straightforward. Operating alongside an active railway required extensive planning, approvals, and coordination to ensure every stage of the lift could be completed safely.
Adding another layer of complexity, Casino Food Company operates seven days a week. Maintaining business continuity was a key priority throughout the project, meaning every lift, delivery and installation had to be carefully scheduled to minimise disruption to the facility's operations.
Our project managers worked closely with all stakeholders to coordinate the timing of the lift, ensuring the helicopter operation, rail requirements, and on-site works aligned seamlessly.
Another Layer Of Complexity
The helicopter lift was only one part of a much larger operation. Over the same weekend, our team also coordinated two major crane lifts to install two new 2,000kW condensers, critical infrastructure that will support Casino Food Company's expanding production requirements.
Executing multiple heavy lifts across a single weekend required meticulous planning, experienced operators and clear communication between every contractor involved. From logistics and engineering through to onsite installation, every team member played an important role in ensuring the project progressed safely and efficiently.
By carefully sequencing each stage of the installation, our team successfully delivered the project while keeping downtime to an absolute minimum.
